About
José Salgado is a Portuguese-Swiss guitarist, pianist and composer based in Zürich and Lisbon. He is a founding member of the band Manteau, with whom he has performed as vocalist and guitarist at renowned venues and festivals across Portugal such as Music Box, Galeria Zé dos Bois, Super Bock em Stock. Besides touring with Manteau, José plays solo shows and in other collaborations. Most recently he formed a duo with flutist and vocalist Frederica Silva.He composes music for a variety of projects including film, documentary, installation and dance. Highlights among these include the experimental animation 'Lights, Haze' (2024) and '...e vi o céu', a contemporary dance production that premiered at the Cineteatro Louletano in 2024.
José Salgado is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Composition for Film, Theatre and Media at ZHdK (Zurich University of the Arts).
